Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know before booking with Chudleigh Health Hub.
5.0 from 24 Google reviewsDo I need a GP referral to see an osteopath in Chudleigh?
No. You can book directly online, by phone or on WhatsApp. If you plan to claim on health insurance, check with your insurer first, as some ask for a GP referral or pre-authorisation.
What happens at my first osteopathy appointment?
Your first appointment lasts 60 minutes. It starts with a detailed conversation about your symptoms, health and lifestyle, then an examination. We’ll explain what we find, agree a plan with you, and start treatment where it’s appropriate.
What should I wear?
We may need to see how you move, so wear or bring something comfortable such as shorts and a vest top. You’re welcome to bring someone with you.
How much does an appointment cost?
A new patient osteopathy consultation (60 minutes) is £85 and follow-up treatments (30 minutes) are £50. Physiotherapy is the same price. Longevity assessments start at £150. See all our fees.
Is osteopathy covered by health insurance?
Many health insurers cover osteopathy. Check with your insurer before your appointment, as some need a GP referral or pre-authorisation.
What’s the difference between an osteopath and a physiotherapist?
Both are regulated healthcare professionals who assess and treat problems with muscles, joints and nerves. Osteopaths are registered with the General Osteopathic Council and often use hands-on treatment alongside exercise and advice. Physiotherapists are registered with the HCPC and often place more emphasis on exercise-based rehabilitation. There’s a lot of overlap, and at Chudleigh Health Hub you can see either. Read more about which to choose.
What conditions do you treat?
We commonly help with lower back pain and sciatica, neck pain and headaches, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain, elbow pain and sports injuries. If you’re not sure whether we can help, call us for a chat.
Do you treat babies, and women during pregnancy?
Yes. Steph Evans has special interests in treating babies and children and in caring for mums through pregnancy and after birth. Our Rebalance and Bloom mum and baby package starts from one week after birth. Read about pregnancy, mum and baby care.
Where are you, and is there parking?
We’re at 90 Fore Street, Chudleigh, Devon TQ13 0HT, with convenient parking close by. Patients come to us from Chudleigh, Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, Kingsteignton, Teignmouth, Exeter and the Teign Valley. Find us.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Out-of-hours appointments are also available.
Where can I get a comprehensive longevity assessment in South Devon?
Our Health Autonomy assessment in Chudleigh measures your body composition, metabolic health (with an AGE Reader scan), heart, recovery, lungs, and power and balance. It’s six non-invasive tests in one 45-minute appointment, with a calculated VO2 max and a same-day report. It starts at £150. Find out more about Health Autonomy.
Is the longevity assessment a medical diagnosis?
No. It’s a health and fitness baseline, not a medical diagnosis. If any results need additional checking, we’ll explain them and advise you of the next step.
How do I book?
You can book online at any time, call us on 07902 065739, or message us on WhatsApp.
What if I need to cancel?

Are your practitioners registered?
Yes. Our osteopaths are registered with the General Osteopathic Council, and our physiotherapist is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Meet the team.
